Citizens Advice Watford is looking for people to join their volunteer team. Could you be a people’s champion in your community?
A local independent charity, Citizens Advice Watford provides advice and advocacy to 8,000 people a year in crisis or facing difficult situations.
Volunteers are on hand daily, helping people to understand their rights, support with housing problems, get out of debt, apply for benefits, and advocate for a fairer society.
It’s rigorous, challenging work that takes dedication, patience and expertise. But it’s also stimulating, varied and rewarding. Full training is provided – you don’t need previous experience or knowledge and the charity welcomes volunteers from all backgrounds and cultures.
Karen, who has volunteered at Citizens Advice for two years, said:
“Volunteering at Citizens Advice has been a very fulfilling experience for me. I thought I was going to give something away (time), but in fact there’s so much more I have received -friendship, knowledge, skills, experience, confidence and much more.”
With huge demands on the service, the charity is looking for committed volunteers who can give a day a week to support people in their community for at least a year, either in an advice role, or supporting the advice team in carrying out this vital work.
